Danila Türka, govorili tudi tedanji bavarski premier dr. Günther Beckstein, nekdanji Deputy Secretary of State ZDA, prof. Kenneth Dam in drugi visoki predstavniki iz politike, gospodarstva in znanosti. Straus je predsedoval Komisiji za intelektualno lastnino Human Genome Organization (HUGO) (1995–2006), Programski komisiji Mednarodnega združenja za varstvo intelektualne lastnine (AIPPI) (1997–2006), bil je predsednik Mednarodnega združenja za pouk in raziskave na področju intelektualne lastnine (ATRIP) (1993–1995), je podpredsednik Nemškega združenja za varstvo intelektualne lastnine (GRUR), predsednik Pravne sekcije Academiae Europae, podpredsednik Evropske akademije znanosti in umetnosti (EASA) in predsednik Stalne komisije za pravice intelektualne lastnine Federacije evropskih akademij znanosti (ALLEA).
